WANA (Dec 23) – Masoud Zangeneh, Head of Operations for South Pars Joint Fields, announced that Iran’s daily gas extraction from the South Pars field in the Persian Gulf has surpassed Qatar’s. He emphasized that Iran continues to lead in production and extraction in this shared field, with operations maintaining steady progress.

Speaking during a media tour of the Sixth Refinery Complex and centralized joint storage facilities in South Pars, Zangeneh highlighted the operational readiness of all South Pars refineries.

He revealed that eight South Pars storage facilities, with a combined capacity of 640,000 cubic meters—equivalent to four million barrels—are fully operational. These facilities include eight tanks, each with a storage capacity of 80,000 cubic meters. “These storage facilities not only facilitate exports but also address potential threats without any operational disruptions,” he stated.

According to Zangeneh, these eight shared storage tanks produce 670,000 barrels of condensates daily, of which 580,000 barrels are managed through dedicated facilities.

He further reported the activity of 13 gas refineries in South Pars, with eight located at Site 1 in Assaluyeh and five at Site 2 in Kangan.

Zangeneh reiterated Iran’s leadership over Qatar in South Pars, noting, “We are currently ahead of Qatar in gas production and extraction from the shared South Pars field, and production continues at full capacity.”
